Straka: 19 years old, jumped to his death from the Charles Bridge on October
30. He worked at Novacek & Sons Fabrication. He had been consorting with

taking the plunge, Straka was distributing literature. Someone dove in after
him to try to save him but the current was too swift. At the time of the

Massacre. Italian troops were attacked
by a Turco-Arab force while marching through the Mechiya oasis and were heavily
defeated[citation needed] . They responded by massacring the population of the
Mechiya oasis, in three days children, women were killed systematically through
the houses, farms and gardens. Several hundred women and children were burned
in a mosque. The Italians took measures to prevent news of the massacre

JANUARY 11TH (START) Radio Straka mentions: Great Strikes of
1912. Radio Straka notes the Polish women at the Everett Cotton Mills in
Lawrence Massachusetts opened their pay envelope and found that they had been
short changed by 32 cents. This started the Great Strike of 1912. Radio Straka
mentions: “The Bread and Roses Strike” also known as the 1912 Lawrence Textile
Strike. The slogan originates from a speech given by Rose Schneiderman; a line
in that speech (“The worker must have bread, but she must have roses, too.”)
Radio Straka notes that in hundreds of starving children sent to New York, to
New Jersey and to Vermont from Lawrence, Massachusetts in the winter of 1912.
This I believe refers to the 1912 Lawrence Textile Strike when IWW leaders Bill
Haywood and Elizabeth Gurley Flynn, organizers of the strike sent hundreds of
the strikers’ hungry children to sympathetic families in New York, New Jersey,

Events leading up to the Ludlow Massacre: Baldwin–Felts
Detective Agency had a reputation for aggressive strike breaking. Agents shone
searchlights on the tent villages at night and fired bullets into the tents at
random, occasionally killing and maiming people. They used an improvised
armored car, mounted with a machine gun the union called the “Death Special” to
patrol the camp’s perimeters. The steel-covered car was built in the CF&I
plant in Pueblo, Colorado from the chassis of a large touring sedan. Frequent
sniper attacks on the tent colonies drove the miners to dig pits beneath the
tents where they and their families could be better protected.

JANUARY Torsten Ekstrom dies from falling from a balcony in
Paris. It is unclear if it is an accident or a suicide. Ekstrom dies, and is

Radio Straka mentions: The São Paulo International Bienal,
created in 1951 by the entrepreneur, Francisco Matarazzo Sobrinho (1892 –
1977), known as Ciccillo Matarazzo, was the first large-scale exhibition of Modern
Art to be realized outside the major European and North American cultural
centres. NOTE: Radio Straka calls the 1959 Bienal the 2nd but it was actually
